Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
We are pleased to announce that Donelson Elementary School will be selecting students this fall for Donelson’s National Jr. Beta Club. The National Beta Club is a national honor society. The purpose is to encourage and reward academic achievement, and to promote those qualities of character that make for good citizenship.
In November, students meeting the National Beta Club’s and Donelson Elementary School’s requirements for membership, will receive invitational information. Membership in Jr. Beta Club is open to fifth grade students. Additional requirements for membership are as follows:
* Academic Honor Roll or higher 1st nine weeks and on 2nd nine weeks interim (minimum of 2 A’s and 2 B’s and E’s or G’s in conduct)
* Teacher recommendation.
Students who are working at or above academic grade level and show creditable academic achievement, worthy character, good mentality and commendable attitudes will be invited to join. Students will be required to maintain at least Academic Honor Roll or higher to be an active member of Jr. Beta. Mrs. White and Mrs. Powers will monitor Jr. Beta members’ grades on interims and report cards. Students who drop below 2 A’s, 2 B’s, and E’s or G’s will be placed on probation until the next report card or interim. Probation means a student will be unable to participate in Jr. Beta activities or projects until the academic or behavior grade meets requirements for Jr. Beta. Upon receiving an invitation, students will receive more information about the National Jr. Beta Club, its mission, and benefits of membership. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. White or Mrs. Powers, Jr. Beta Club Sponsors. Contact can be made by email at [email protected] or [email protected].
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cherry Davidson, Principal
